Roger, I have measured my tank recess where the transfer will go and I'm headed to my sign shop to see if they can make some for me. Can you tell me the what the blue color shade or code is please? The TRA-20 is no longer available at Dragonfly.Roger Gwynn wrote: Fri Dec 13, 2024 3:54 pm Scroll down the page and you will find applications and colours.
Either red or blue shading, TRA-20 or 21 (excuse the misprint in the caption) I would expect the red to be used on red tanks, normally found on Hunters and the Blue on other models. Incidentally the first enamel badge in 1934 had blue shading, changed the following year to black when the red shaded ones were invented for the Hunters.

I went to our local sign shop and ordered 4. Here is the proof for the printed Vinyl covered with a clear film.

Using transfers would be the easiest and most accurate route and a talking point down the pub!

Obviously, I don't know if your transfers are the same type as the ones I used some years ago, but mine washed off in the first rainstorm, which was disappointing. Taking advice from Jerry Mortimore, I have subsequently always varnished over transfers using a Humbrol enamel clear varnish and had no problems since.

Re: 1946 VH 500 Restoration
Hi Paul, These are printed on an adhesive backed Vinyl, covered with a clear vinyl and sealed. I was told by the sign shop that they should last many years if not subjected to harsh chemicals. Application was a breeze, and should I need to replace them, it will be easy as well by using an adhesive solvent that will not effect the paint.
Now that I have paid for the art work setup to produce the file, printing more will be around $11 each,
