How Do You Get To Your Nuts?
A question to White and Poppers - removing a barrel I've always had to take the valves and springs off first to get to the base flange nuts. Definitely makes removing and replacing a barrel a more time consuming process that it needs to. So, my question - has any of you figured out how to get to the nuts behind the tappets on a W&P engine without removing the valves and springs?

Re: How Do You Get To Your Nuts?
Hi
The clearances are not well defined in the photos, but my first approach would be with the ring end of a combination spanner suitably ground down and thinned to fit, as well as moving the push rods to maximise access.
Regards Mick

Re: How Do You Get To Your Nuts?
Thanks Mick - I've tried grinding down a ring spanner - there just isn't enough room, and if you do get the spanner over the nut the tappet is in the way.Mick D wrote: Fri Jul 14, 2023 1:05 pm Hi

Re: How Do You Get To Your Nuts?
Hi Tony
Have you considered using modifying the nuts, (reducing head size and or height)?

Re: How Do You Get To Your Nuts?
Thats not a bad idea. I'll see if I can find reduced hex nuts in that size.Mick D wrote: Fri Jul 14, 2023 1:19 pm Hi Tony

Re: How Do You Get To Your Nuts?
How about manufacturing double nuts? Full size nut at the base with a smaller hex nut for your ring spanner on top? Wouldn't compromise the clamping diameter of the lower nut?
