FH Fuel Tank Chrome Strip?

I have a Draganfly supplied chrome strip for my 58 FH which I am trying to install but I have encountered an anomaly and query which I wonder how others have resolved.

Anomaly: The forward attachment hardware is listed as part number 053 which according to Draganfly is a 3/16" Whit mush head screw, however the drilled and countersunk holes at the front of the strip don't match this profile, the screws will quite easily pull through I think. I can machine a couple of adaptor washers to compensate but have I missed something?

Query: How should the tang at the rear of the strip attach to the tank - below the slot or through it? (Either will require a little fettling with a file)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have just received my latest order from Drags and have the same problem. I mislaid one of the screws from my '58 NH and thought I would order a new pair. I didn't pay attention to the size, just clicked on 053 like Mick, and when they arrived I have realised they are not the right thing at all. My original is a much bigger thread and head. I haven't gone out to the bike to see what thread it is, but it is more like the big mushroom headed screw that holds the rear section on the FERC (or similar). Has anyone got a definitive answer? Have Drags listed the wrong screw?

If I might chip in - I have 053 screws (with fibre washers) in original spire clips, and they are quite loose. The Spire clips stretch and wear.

Right, so pictures show the bolt that I thought went in the strip, next to the new one. As you can see the new one appears to me to be rather small for the slot, it falls in the spire nut, and there is no washer. Another picture shows the one that Drags list, against the (rather nicer one imo) that is actually sent, both numbered 053, and yes it does exactly match the dimensions listed.
So, if the Drags one is correct, why is the hole in the Chrome strip so big, and no washer is listed, it doesn't make sense to my eyes.
I would like to see some of the other guys on here post pictures of theirs in situ.
To clarify, my bike is pretty much original, used for commuting between '58 and '68, then left in a shed untouched until last year. I admit that we removed bolts and screws to work on it and may well have muddled some up. I just can't get my head around much a big hole needing a small screw.

From memory, I decided to fit stainless steel thin washers, this tidied up the installation though not strictly standard.

In my opinion, the holes in the chrome strip are too big, whether by design or error.

By design I guess. Helps you get the strip flat against the tank - you push it down and forwards, the screws slide in their slots, you tighten them when you are happy.

That is a good point, though I can see me using a washer like Mick as the head of the screw really isn't that much bigger than the slot.
