Red hunter frame for parts wanted

Post by JoeTurner »

Has anybody got a damaged red hunter frame? I need the bracket that holds the oil tank as mine is missing, it’s a 1954 swing arm frame but I presume all the swing arm ones are the same, failing that is there anyone with a bike near chesterfield that I could measure up to make the bracket. Many thanks

Hi
If all the swinging arm frames are the same I have a 58 FH in bits at the moment - happy to measure up for you if it helps, is this the part you're interested in?

That’s great, now I can see what’s missing it doesn’t look that difficult to make, if you could draw around it that would be a massive help, thanks

Hi
Some basic dimensions from which you can mark out a cardboard template prior to manufacture:
Oil Tank Bkt Dims.png
Oil Tank Bkt Dims.png (266.67 KiB) Viewed 2780 times
Material is 2mm mild steel folded 90 degrees - width dimensions from the outside of the flange.
Total height, (1), 4 1/2"
Maximum width, (2), 1 3/4"
Minimum width, (3), 3/4"
Slot centres, (4), 3 5/8"
Slot offset, (5), 1 3/8"
Slots width 9/32"
The photo makes things look skew but the bracket is essentially a profiled 'L' section.
