It's the short ones that are the Problem. They are an issue in any alloy motor. Not enough length to take the thermal stretching. The earlier iron heads were well designed regarding Airflow through the Head fins. Some alloys were a bit Suss near the early 50s. Nev

WWII scrap metal was incorporated into the recycling mix.
