The club has the drawings for both the 1927 version, D9/75 (6100-27) and for the 1928 machine E8/411 (6100-28) the latter shows that the taper is 1 in 5 inclusive or 5.655 degree angle

Aside from the issue of whether the angle per side, or the total angle, is being discussed, the test rod I cut on my lathe at 5.7° definitely didn't fit, while 5° almost did.

Oh yeas, always better to make the part to fit the other part rather than as specified as the former will fit and the latter may not

Some of those Tapers get a bit damaged at the ends. It pays to spend a Bit of time with a scraper or fine rat tail file to carefully dress any damage before Matching with the New Part. It's all unsprung . Nev
