Semi Fluid Grease for Gearboxes
Hi,
I have always used Penrite semi fluid grease but it is now becoming hard to come by.
Can anyone suggest a good alternative? Also do people mix their own and if so, what is the recipe?
BR,
Keith

I have a tub of this, not used it yet - but expect it will be fine, blurb says it is for vintage car and bike gearboxes, and is under a tenner....

Re: Semi Fluid Grease for Gearboxes
I usually mix my own with Tacky Mill grease and a thick gear OIL. The Penrite Product is easily available HERE in Au and the exchange rate is very much in the UK's favour,. As long as it POURS it will not channel. Nev

I get mine from a local tractor repair shop. They charged about 11 Euro for 1 Kg.

Re: Semi Fluid Grease for Gearboxes
I am using grease with viscosity NLGI 0 (there are also the more liquid grades 00 and 000); others use NLGI 00. I top up the gearbox with a syringe.

Re: Semi Fluid Grease for Gearboxes
Here in North America I have started using the John Deere “ Corn Head Grease “. It is available quite readily and a 01 grease so quite fluid. Pricey but the best availability here although I have an acquaintance who is a vintage MG owner and I have used his contacts a few times.
