SQ4 Timing Chain Tensioner

Post by DaveH »

Hello all,

It seems my Mark I timing chain tensioner blade (2110-31) is broken, and new ones are out of stock at Drags.

In some earlier posts, it was suggested that the later Mark II design for a duplex chain (2110-56) might be used instead, even with the Mark I single-row chain. This is apparently a single rigid part, replacing the flexible blade, spring and backstop assembly used in the Mark I design.

Can anyone confirm this works? Does the later style tensioner bolt in where the backstop (2119-49) is now?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,
I see on my spares list that I've got a couple of used 2110-31 tensioner blades. If you may want one of them, I'll dig them out and take photos. I can't remember off hand their condition.

To follow up on this question,
  • Chris is graciously sending me a used Mark I style blade, so all is well (thanks Chris!)
  • I posed this question to Draganfly, and received the following very useful information:

"I've been down to our workshop to investigate the possibility of using the Mark II duplex chain tensioner (2110-56) on a Mark I engine.

I was initially unsure if this was possible, but with the help of our senior engineer, we have physically tried fitting the 2110-56 into a Mark I case. We can confirm that it is indeed possible. All you would need to do is replace the stud already fitted with part number 0215."
