Re: Swinging arm nuts

Yup, just checked again and they are hemispherical. I don't think my machining skills are up to that so I'll get a pair from Acme.

Swinging arm nuts

I've got myself a new project bike and a lathe and mill so want to make some of the parts myself. I know I can purchase some stuff and will do but I fancy doing a bit of machining.
I need two of the domed nuts that secure the swinging arm spindle 4988-54. Looking at the frame the base of these nuts ...

Age related reg number application

Has anyone any knowledge or insight into the most recent procedure for UK registering a 'reconstructed classic' built from parts? I went through this process a coupe of years ago with help from the club and it was straightforward: rebuild, photos, dating cert and fill out a V55/5 application for reg ...

Re: Balancing individual steel flywheels

Might be an idea to do a sanity check. If you have an old crankpin which you can adjust to be a sliding fit (to save having to press it in) assemble the crank and check overall balance factor.

Re: I might have found an HT3

Sammy Miller recently restored a 1957 HT3, it appears on a couple of his YouTube videos. It sold at Bonhams last November for £7300 hammer price.

Sammy says: We have just restored this Ariel HT3 in our restoration workshop, all done by our expert Jim Devereux. The whole bike has been restored ...

I might have found an HT3

Hi Gents,
Not been on the forum for a while but could do with a bit of advice / knowledge.

I've been put onto a possible HT3 that was last taxed in 1968. Apparently its in bits and there is also a 500 engine (not known if its an HT5).
I haven't seen it yet and negotiations re price have not been ...

Re: VHA liner installed

I finally got around to installing the VHA liner into my spare VHA cylinder.
Heated cylinder, cooled the liner in a snow bank.
When the cylinder was hot the liner was wiped down and it dropped in nicely with a clang as the spigot touched the cylinder.
I used 3 T120 cylinders stacked to weigh the ...

Re: 1952 VHA / VCH 'ish' replica

Got all the bits bolted together in order to get an age related number. Didn't have an exhaust so the one on it is a 'replica'
