Re: luggage rack
Hi this UK company makes stainless steel racks for classic motorcycles and here is their standard rack for Ariel four stroke swinging arm models. https://www.classicbikeracks.co.uk/product-category/ariel/ It might be worth asking them if they could make an identical one to the one you require. If no...

Hi Tom, Draganfly had wiring diagrams listed somewhere but I have had a quick search of their site and cannot find them at the moment. However I have a pdf file which includes the 1954 singles diagram (will be the same as the 1955 one as the next diagram in the sequence is for the 56-58 models). Ari...

Re: Gearbox and footrest spacers on swingarm single.
Hi Dennis, yes the two gearbox pivot bolt spacers are identical. The footrest tie bar requires spacer 5385-54 (swinging arm frames 54-58 so all of them) positioned between the engine plates.

Re: FH steering damper
Martin it will never work covered in grease ! The parts should be grease free and dry. Wash it all off in petrol or brake cleaner. Star washer should not be free when the steering damper is used as it applies spring pressure to the friction assembly for the damping effect. Have you all the right par...

Re: Exhaust Valve and guide clearance
Mark, I notice all the VH etc. exhaust valves are 3/8" stem diameter from 1936 to 1958. As for the valve to guide clearance, the ally head models should have Phosphor Bronze guides and, if the valve is free when assembled in a new guide, I imagine that is ok as a valve shouldn't seize in a Phos...
