My VHA had a hard life.ALL the rocker bolts were 3/8 course and not even the correct length. About 4 years ago when one thread stripped I replaced most of the threads with timeserts. No way are they pulling out now. And recently one head stud on the right side pull out, It was repaired with a Timsert.

I'm about to do both valve guides on my 53 VHA.

The gentleman who is going to do the job would like to know what the Interference fit would be

Also for valve to guide clearance I think the inlet is .0025
Exhaust .004 would this be correct.

I'm planning of installing the VCH crank seal 1249-49 and the Shim 1297-49 to my VHA.

The parts books doesn't show where the Shim goes. I'm guessing between the seal & Sprocket

My Oct 52 built VHA has Nil & Nil clearance . I set my rockers snug then back off until they move back & forth freely with NO tappet clearance. I cruise between 55-60 mph with no issues even when it was close to 40c here recently. My old 32 OHC was Nil & Nil .On a hot motor i discovered ...

Putting the original VH Crank back in solved the problem.

Seems like an easy fix to a dud mag armature as long as the generator is working good. They say it draws just 1/4 amp

Allan I had 2 of those . The seller sent another when I told him it was defective..The replacement doesn't read accurately either.
