Another question if you don't mind. How do you find that lift? I don't have the space for a full size table lift, as like you I work in a conventional garage, albeit with a mezzanine storage area overhead.

Looks just what I need too.

I shall be in town with the truck tomorrow. Wondering if I should use the opportunity to buy one, or whether I will be forever worrying about the stability of the bike on top of it?

I have my 'VH' on one at the moment, they are very stable (still best to strap the bike to it).

That looks too precarious for me - I use a Sealey 365 'X' lift:

I remove the ramp when in use which reduces the footprint and when it's not in use it's folded and up-ended to store against the garage wall. Wouldn't be without it.

I have something extremely like the Sealey X lift but without the Sealey name on it, which probably reduces the price somewhat. In its original form it is ok for a centre stand bike but considerably too short for a rear stand bike. So mine has been modified somewhat so that I can just get a rear stand bike onto it by means of an extension to the front. This is not something I would advise others to follow blindly as the action of the X system when raising the table leads to a danger of overturning forwards if you were sufficiently incautious. So as a relatively light and easily moved ramp for centre stand bikes it is fine - but not at all easy to use for a rear stand bike.

The lift is a generic chinese one off of e bay,I find it fine, but have welded a bracket to it that at present bolts through one of the holes in the frame. The standard rubber covers are a bit prone for the bike to slide around and could be dangerous.When I had my BSA B31 special on it I strapped it on which is very necessary. A welded on bracket is better.
