Re: wanted for KH
I happen to have 1 (one) all steel pushrod , is that a early one ?
see pic.
Top one is in steel 38.78 gram
Middle one with small rocker end 17.43 gram.
bottom one 19.60 gram
the ones in my '55 engine where all like the bottom one, I assume thats correct.
sorry no tensioner blade.

I think the early ones are two piece. iron motors use steel push rods. There's a mod to the steel tensioner which I've foregotten the details of. Nev

Hello Nev, do you mean the tappets? if you count in the tappets then all twins had two pieces.
I dont think the pushrods had two parts.
Early tappets have a small circlip half way up, I think that was against having them drop out when lifting the barrel.
-possibly you have to do that a lot.....?-

Vincent, they are tricky to get the heads on because the push rods drop out of position. The early set up has springs somewhere in the deal and I never use that feature. I think I used rubber bands the last time I did one to keep the push rods in place till the head is just above the cylinder. Mines an early "52"( February) and it's not at the front of the queue. I'm going to clean out the crank and balance it before I use it. . I got a brand new head but it's for the earlier model Fit's but doesn't look right. Nev

Re: wanted for KH
With my last kh(iron) , I used the later tensioner arrangement. I think I made the blade myself.

Re: wanted for KH
The iron push rod belongs to the early iron engine 1948 -1949 and prob. upwards. The later alluminium ones can also be used in in the early engines. But beware tappet clearance is not the same as I experienced! Early engines used 0.002'' both inlet and exhaust, later ones used 0.005 inlet and 0.008 for the exhaust valve due to the allumium stem... (Also two diff. type of rocker adjustment).
As far as I know there where 3 types of cam folowers:
1. 2 piece with spring and small stem diameter and with a ''microscopic circlip''
2. 1 piece without spring, but still with small stem diameter
3. 1 piece without spring, but with bigger stem diameter.
There where 2 types of chain tensioner
1. Thin, hardened blade, with tensioner spring > early models
2. Thick, hardened blade without spring but with a ''wedge'' to keep tensioner blade against the chain > later models (modification)
Drags sells both, but the later ones are out of stock...
Picture of the later tensioner...
