1939 350 front end girder springer
I have a front end girder springer that I have been told is of a 1939 350 red hunter - has anyone got a drawing with dimensions or where I can find one -I have tried the workshop/owners manuals but length size dimensions are poor/to not there. I will post photo soon - Thanks

Is this what you are looking for ?
This is a W/NG front fork, 1 "longer then standard pre war ones but very similar.
I have no drawings with measurements, but I can measure the lenght of my '45 NG if you want.

The distance from center to center of the wheel spindle and the lower fork spindle is 450 mm on a WNG and 425 mm on a civilian fork.

Don't see any mention of bushes in the fork spindles. The civilian ones of the period have them. Nev

Get some NOS bushes from Pete Kemp. His source for these is a pile of W/NG spares. Knock the old bushes out with a suitable drift. Press the new ones in. Fit spindles from ACME stainless. Job done. (Yes, it is this easy and they do fit together without reaming).

I have just done mine today, 1939 VH.
The old bushes were a real pig to get out in that I had to put a couple of hacksaw blade cuts through them before they would drift out. Once the cuts were in I knocked them inwards about half inch with a suitable socket and having loosened them drifted them out from the opposite side with a piece of brass rod.
I filed a slight chamfer just to break the sharp edge of the 'hole' into which the new bushes were going to fit. I started the bush by hand just to square it up in the start of the hole and added a bit of oil. I then used one of the pivot spindles with washers and nuts at each end to draw the new bush in. I tightened the nut at the opposite end to the bush.
All the bushes were a press fit, none slid in easily. My thought was that by using the spindle if the bushes compressed they could only do so to the diameter of the spindle ensuring a good fit. They all fitted fine and the old spindles are a good fit in the new bushes.
In the lower 'yoke' I drilled the bushes through the grease nipple holes so the grease could get in (as they had been origionally).
The ones in the girder fork itself were done the same way.
Out of interest:
I found that the old girder fork bushes were longer than the replacements (single spares) and had a couple of angled grooves machined in them.
The originals in the yokes were marked 'COMPO H', they were the same size as the replacements and had no grooves.
I found that the lower yoke spindle has a slight bend in it (7 thou) so I am going to have a go at straightening it with my press. I managed to straighten my gearbox main shaft which was about 20 thou out and I got it to within 2 thou of straight so the spindle should be fairly easy to get striaght.
