Re: FOR SALE : 1931 Sloper 500
Hi Dave,
I am new in this forum also if I am member of the italian branch since a couple of years...
I was already looking for an Ariel sloper, SB31 or SG 31. But not easy to finf one in Italy.
I was looking this advert and speaking with Ariel Atzori he told me this bike looks good and the engine, frame and gearbox are matching.
What price in your opinion could be honest for this bike?
Best regards
Stefano Corti

Re: FOR SALE : 1931 Sloper 500
Hi Stefano
There are probably people on this forum who will have a better idea about sloper prices than me. They don't come up for sale too often so prices are not always easy to anticipate. It would be worth sending a message to the seller to see what their reserve price is and to gauge how much they are looking for and you may be able to make an offer. Side valves are usually cheaper than ohv and I would make a wild guess that the bike may sell for somewhere in the 8-10k range.

Hi Dave,
thanks a lot for your kind reply. I have spoken with Ariel Atzori that told me the right price should be 10.000€ (7-8.000£). The guy I have spoken with(Martin) wish to earn at least the double, but I do not think he will find easily an arabian Sheik...
Best regards and thanks a lot for your kind help.

Re: FOR SALE : 1931 Sloper 500
I was planning to bid on it but I also spoke to the seller. He says he was selling it for a family friend and the latter had seen one sell in Austria for €26000, so the reserve (unknown) was based on that price. If one really did sell for that amount, I cannot believe it was the side valve version.
I cannot tell you why I wanted the SB31 side valve version when I already have a very nice SF31 (2-valve OHV).

Hi Paul.
Seems we are looking for the same bike... but you live closer to the Hampshire than me so you have more chances to get it to the right price...
I tried to call back this Martin to understand what he will do with that bike but he did not answer.
May be we make heads or tails to decide ho will get it...
My phone n. is 0039 3407789508
Best regards
