I don't know why the factory dropped the KHA, probably for the same reason that the alloy cylinders were dropped for the road going singles, which was most likely cost. I am not aware of a problem with thread pulling on the KH, in any case the studs screw into the crankcase and the cylinder head, passing through the cylinder. There is only one central thread in the cylinder itself. The long studs continued to be used with the alloy head to the end in 1957.
