Gearbox oils

I was recently told by a Morris oils technical representative that we should not use EP oils in gearboxes containing bronze or any yellow metal components, ie selector forks bushes etc, the reason for this is that EP oils contain sulphur up to 20%.the sulphur attacks the surface of these metals causing premature wear in a relatively short time, we should therefore stay with straight monograde gearbox oils. EP oils were developed for use in all steel bearing gearboxs. I hope that this information is useful to members. Matthew Barton.
