petrol tap thread
does anyone know what thread is the petrol tap ? I am currently re commissioning a leader and the fuel tap thread in the tank needs to be cleared of sealant.

Determine if it's tapered. IF it is I suspect it's a BSPT, Thread., Pretty hard to find a Die. Taps are easier A good solvent might do the Job. Paint stripper Maybe? Strong thinners Mixed with oil to slow evaporation? Nev

It is BSP (parallel not tapered). Pete

Many thanks Nev and Pete, it is a parallel thread so I will maybe get a set of BSP taps in order to get the right one.

yep as Roger says its 1/4" BSP on the leader and arrow .
if you put tap in and it doesnt quite line up right before it goes tight use some loctite 577 sealant on it and you can position the tap in line and the sealant will hold it in place .
the sealant sets very quickly and although sets reasonably hard it can still be undone with some effort .

Parallel threads usually have a shoulder to tighten onto/ against with a copper or fibre washer. Nev
