Re: Fleet 3 wheeler
It looks very much like one. As Adrie says there were many people making similar vehicles at the time.

Re: Fleet 3 wheeler
This one in Australia has been done up very original.
Note the out of centre mudguard as original.

That looks fantastic. I have often thought there is a market for a such a machine, perhaps shortening and streamlining the front and improving the weather protection and seat a little. Perfect for the urban commute.....

Re: Fleet 3 wheeler
I knew that one had survived in Australia but I don't think I have seen photos before. A friend in Suffolk has 2.5 and there are a couple more in museums. With a 550cc sv low compression engine producing 10 h.p. it is quicker by bicycle!

Roger - Indeed. I was thinking of updating the concept! A low cost Grinnall Scorpion with enhanced weather protection perhaps

Re: Fleet 3 wheeler
So the connection with the Fleet would be that they both have 3 wheels!

Re: Fleet 3 wheeler
and both have m/c engine at the rear, car steering/suspension, car-like controls etc. These similarities are not particularly common surely?

Re: Fleet 3 wheeler
You are probably right, I have not really studied the subject, other than the Fleet. I think that many of the others, such as the Raleigh version had a motor cycle front end with a 2 wheel cargo carrying rear. I remember one of these being used around derby to deliver parts in 1969-72. It had girder forks sticking out at the front through a canvas curtain.
