1937 VH Project
1937 VH Project
Hello all and greetings from Cyprus.
I am currently building a 37’ VH and I thought to open this thread to get guidance when needed, in an attempt to build the bike as correct as possible.
At the moment I am dry building it to see how everything goes together, see what is missing and avoid any unpleasant surprises when everything is painted/chromed.
My first question is about the exhaust. Today I fitted the exhaust pipes and barrels and it looks like the pipes are short for 2-3 inches or so. Is that the case or is the aft mudguard stay a bit further aft? (I don’t think so).
Attached are a few pictures of the exhaust and current state of the bike.

Re: 1937 VH Project
First congratulations with this fine looking project!
On first sight it looks the exhaust pipes are indeed a bit to short. Are these still the original pipes, or are they cut of?

Re: 1937 VH Project
A side view would help. Is the centre mudguard stay (not the lifting handle) actually vertical?
cheers

The pipes are new from Draganfly as the silencers are. The centre mudguard stay is vertical yes. It is around 90 degrees with the wheel axle slot.
Also the right pipe needs a bit bending in my opinion to clear out from the oil tank and the end of it to come slightly inboard.

Re: 1937 VH Project
I am just about to walk into exactly the same issue with my '37 RH; the only difference being that my silencers came from Vintage Replica tens ago without the brackets welded on so I trust I will have a bit of leeway!?
Ray Tolman has posted some excellent photographs elsewhere on the forum describing the setting out of the various brackets to hold the exhaust system in place on a '37 RH.
Your rather good 'p' brackets appear to be the wrong way up - where did you get them from?
6073-32 are described in detail by Mr. Tolman as well.
Looks good

Hi Mark, are you talking about this thread? viewtopic.php?t=4528&start=10
I cant make the picture pa very well as they are corrupted but it looks the same as mine from what i can see. Or maybe it should be on top of the hole for the saddle stud?
The P brackets are from Ariel Klub Slovensko. I just need to enlarge the holes to fit the 7/16 stud. https://www.arielklub.sk/inzerat-2571-2 ... 45-a-48-mm

Re: 1937 VH Project
If you look into my ‘1946 NG’ posting, it shows on the last page a picture of my high level pipe. The pipe sticks into the muffler at least over the whole lenght of the flange. This is also a Draganfly pipe, and if I remember correctly I did shorten the pipe by aprox. 2”.

Yes, that was the thread! I attach a "Screen grab" version - perhaps less corrupted?
Thank you for the reference...
