W/NG Tool Box

Hi all,

I’ve been collecting parts towards upgrading my father’s 1940 W/NG and have everything now except the elusive hinged toolbox.
Was wondering if anyone has a lead on one?

Or has anyone used one of the ebay offerings and how have they found them in terms of quality and look?

If Im chasing unicorns, would anyone be willing to send me some photos/measurements of a genuine one including the hinge position and the mounts and I’ll see if I can convert one.

Cheers

Would this be 6553-41, if so we have the works drawing, copies are available to club members ref E9/927A, see website for details on how to order etc.

Thanks Roger,

Appreciate you getting back to me.
I’ll definitely get the drawing.
Can you tell me does it include the brackets or are they on a separate drawing?

Still hoping for a lead on a genuine one, even if it needs a lot of fixing up I’d feel better about it.

For members interest here is a photo of the bike in the UK with my father Rod Bailey (now passed) and I from 2006.
Dad was an active AOMCC a member for along time.

Regards
Simon

Brackets would be a seperate drg and not likely available, see website or quote drawing number form parts book and I will check for you

Haven't I seen dimensioned sketches of the brackets on the forum?

I do believe there was a sketch of said brackets that I used to make drawing of 6560-41 FOC to any one that asks.

Thanks both - Appreciate your help.
I’ve found the forum sketch that Simon mentioned.

There arnt many W/NGs here in Australia and when I did see Nev Hunters in VIC I was so impressed by the whole bike I completely forgot to take any proper reference photos.

Could anyone kindly send me a couple of photos / dimensions of the second toolbox bracket positions please - mine is a 1940 so aluminium timing cover, but aiming to restore it to its engine swap date of 1943, so larger pannier frame and half hinged second toolbox.

I am pretty certain that the brackets line up with the holes on the toolbox.

Thanks Roger
If I go a repro tool box then there are no holes - but I can pick these brackets positions up from the lower tool box positions as they replace the existing single box brackets I think.
Now I’m trying to figure out the rear brackets - I don’t have any reference photos of these.

Hello Simon,

This is how the brackets look like in between the lower and uppertoolbox.
They are standard brackets with small angled strip welded on them, pretty easy to make.

This is - I think - how the top bracket looks, but I am not sure...
