Happy New Year all
Well it always a strange year, took a bit of getting used too.

Speedo now reads 17477 miles so only 4665 miles covers in 2022, poor really compared to my working days,
Although I've done around a thousand on my 51 Side Valve.

First snag of the year didn't take long to happen
After a short ride to my Daughters turning the ignition switch to off didn't work. She wouldn't stop running, had to pull the battery lead off, most of my electric faults result in non running


When I wired the bike up I used two small busbars, one for permanent live the other switched from the ignition switch.
A random small washer fell down and joined the two busbars together


First rally of the year The Crazy Horse isn't far off, bring it on

Did my last ride of the year yesterday and totted up my total for the year at 12,769, the highest since records began. First ride of the year was 14th January to the aptly named Crazy Horse, the first of 11 rallies not including the Round Britain rally. I didn't manage that many miles when I was riding my bike to work everyday. I shan't be doing so many this year, Janet wants some 'normal' holidays!

I clocked 4900 miles all in the UK. Looking forward to getting back to Europe in 2023

I'm pale with envy at your achievements boys. I drove barely 3,000 km in 2022. I need to improve. I enjoy riding an old motorcycle, but my old machines often take a toll on my health. I will have to ride the newer, suspension Ariels more

I'm looking forward to the Rally in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and driving around Slovakia. Maybe this year I'll be able to visit Italy again, but if I'm gone all summer, my wife probably won't be thrilled

A mere 3068 miles on the bikes for me last year, although this was the highest for some years. We also did over 1100 miles in Madam's 1927 Standard car which was the only vehicle to operate outside the UK last year.

That's still pretty good miles Karol , you've done them on an older bike.

I'm hoping things have settled down with my bike, my breather mod seems to have brought my oil leak from the rocker box under control but all around the top of my air filter looks very oily. This morning I tightened up two jubilee clips that connects my copper pipe to the rocker box as it looked a bit suspect. But I was wrong.

Now I'm just back from a ride to Armours in Bournemouth to pick up new simease stainless pipes. And again oil everywhere around my air filter,
I've found the leak, copper pipe was rubbing against the petrol tank and wore through.

They are nice pipes. Unfortunately I've an alloy BSA head I've got to get at them with my hacksaw as hey dont have the necessary kink to get around the center stand. So I use a VH silencer and pipe up to just beyond the front fixing into the frame. The smaller dia BSA siamese pipe fits inside the larger VH pipe,

You all put me to shame, I think I managed about 1800 miles between the VH an KH last year. Probably did even less than that on modern bikes!
