The club has the drawings for both the 1927 version, D9/75 (6100-27) and for the 1928 machine E8/411 (6100-28) the latter shows that the taper is 1 in 5 inclusive or 5.655 degree angle

Aside from the issue of whether the angle per side, or the total angle, is being discussed, the test rod I cut on my lathe at 5.7° definitely didn't fit, while 5° almost did.

Oh yeas, always better to make the part to fit the other part rather than as specified as the former will fit and the latter may not
