Re: Wanted pre 1940 Ariel for restoration
I put an advert in cheval for a WNG project
A nice man called John Connelly offered me a 1951 Anstey project, with a WNG engine and tank for VERY reasonable money... (which I completed last year:)
The probem you have is that people are asking large sums for "project" girder forked machines, that are sometimes as close to the fully restored prices.
As most bikes on EBAY are now "dealer", then individuals usually look at the money, being asked, and advertise at a similar level.
Sort the EBAY adverts by "completed listings" to get a feel for what is actually selling there .....
I am increasingly of the opinion that you have to know a man; that knows a man that has one in boxes.
That said, you do see some "finds" pop up at local auctions.
