It happened to me with 2 Ariels at about 30.000 km and no liner in the tank.

Take 1mm out of the carb with a special made bit and glue (loctide) a brass liner on the slide when a litlle bigger outside and still on the main material, take the last half mm off after hardening.

It must be tha aluminium rubbing up against aluminium making a sort of aluminium paste. Thinking about it I did once force oil down the cable with my hydraulic cable oiler. Some must have got into the carb as it smoked for a bit.

Rode up to Andover ro see our John, it was damp, but warm for a December day, I even had a "Moment" everything came together, I felt today as I did 40 years ago when I left the railway to work for myself. A feeling of freedom from work.

night snowfall does not want to ride a motorcycle.

That snow certainly would keep me off my bike.

The weather didn't keep me off my bike today, I heard some of our Northern friends were having breakfast somewhere up north, so I thought if I get up early enough I'll join them, seems I've got there first,
I came through Ashbourn,

I thought this was the cafe, but it was closed.

So plan B and the Yondermancafe instead.
Very nice, but perhaps 200 miles was a bit far

I refused them, they can have an unfortunate effect on my insides. Motorcycle gear just takes to long to remove.

Three problems yesterday.
1 My seat felt slippery and a bit wet on the way up, which wasn't a problem till I realised it wasn't raining. The rocker box has a fine mist oil leak, both the insides of my legs were well lubricated. Funny enough it was much better on the way home. That's a job for tomorrow.

2 My last fuel fill up was in Towcester on my way home, getting back on my bike a woman ran out of the shop and said you've paid for my fuel. A lesson learned, tap and go makes that very easy if your not concentrating. Should have realised that 50 quids worth of fuel doesn't fit in my tank, next year maybe

3 Finally riding out of that garrage, stupid gear lever fell off !!!

Cable ties rescued it from leaving the bike,

Jim has shown me what John has done on his bike.
I'm at that also tomorrow.

The Huntmaster lever is very shaped and bent to get around the timing cover, I think that's what makes creep of the shaft.

Probs all right then, I know that petseal goes slightly sticky as it disolves

Struth, its taken all day just to get the bike in the garage .
It needs a good clear out.

New tyre while I'm at it.
