Is there any significant difference between the brake plates for the front and rear wheels?
One of my bikes has a front plate with AM1 cast in the inside and the other bike has an AM2 plate. The two plates appear to be identical otherwise.
The main reason for my question is that I have recently acquired a stripped-down Huntmaster. the brake plates have been separated from the hubs and one is an AM1 and the other an AM2. Does it matter which one goes in which wheel?

The cable adjuster is a larger thread diameter in the rear brake plate which is removable and most are removed from ones on sale from EBay.

Aahh! Good point. I've not looked at those yet. Thanks Bob.BobWard wrote: Wed Dec 01, 2021 10:06 am The cable adjuster is a larger thread diameter in the rear brake plate which is removable and most are removed from ones on sale from EBay.

Watch out for BSA versions, the plate is the same but some fittings are not. On the front the BSA uses a 5/16 threaded adjuster, while the Ariel has a plain lug.

Thanks Roger.
It does look like I have a variety of brake plates with differing brake cable fittings. I can sort those out ok. The main thing is that the basic plate castings are interchangeable.
