Binks float bowl
Does anyone have a bowl identical to this one on an early Ariel?

Re: Mystery float bowl
Got it. Thanks John!
This is a 1929-30 Binks, type 14 bowl as discovered in research. Have the parts number but have not found a supplier for the internals as it is currently an empty shell.
Have a brass Amal type 89 I want to mate it with.

I dont know ,but its likely that Amal top feed parts will fit ,with maybe a bit of fettling......or even fiddling......Binks and Amac stuff was mixed together to come up with the early Amal carbs. There is a lot of crossover 1928-34.

Re: Binks float bowl
That’s interesting, Pete. Do have the long or short base bowl on the Silver Hawk?
Would you please post a picture or two? Would like to see the float chamber cover to compare it with the Amal version. Cheers,
Wade

Re: Binks float bowl
Hi
The reason I thought it was the same, is the previous owner had held the bottom while trying to undo the top, and bent the bottom and split the solder. One of the fittings in the bottom had been fitted to hold the arm in place before it was soldered it took 2 day messing to get the top off, it was well stuck after 40+ years

Re: Binks float bowl
Thanks Pete!
I see that is the the standard base length. I do know the location of another of these in top condition but just the bare bowl.
While you had yours apart did you take pictures of the float, needle etc.?
Looking at the internals of a slightly later Amal top feed bowl, they are not the same.
It would be great to see exactly what I am looking for rather than just part numbers.
Do you have the fuel hose connector?

Hi Wade
If I have chance I will take a couple of photos of the inside, the needle
and the connector. If you need any more pictures or any info just ask

Re: Binks float bowl
OK, Pete, thanks a lot. If you do have a picture of the proper fuel pipe attachment, that would be good.
