Hi Volker,
I live in Canada so my idea of really cold weather may differ from yours. I use 40 wt diesel oil year round for my VH and wait until the outside temperature is at least +10 C.

It is same here in Finland, +10 C is my limit for motorcycling. Now it is +3 C.
In mid day it should be +7 C.
