Tank repainting

Post by andrew.johnston »

Have recently had my MkII tank extensively repaired, re-chromed and re-sealed - at horrible expense. Can any member recommend a paintshop that will do a good job of repainting it - particularly bearing in mind the gold pinstriping? I'm near Durham, so ideally somewhere up north.

Thanks - I'm in no hurry, so I'll look forward to seeing it. Was up near Consett yesterday!

Thanks for that - looks great - York's not too far away. Was any of the paint applied over chrome plating? That's what worried the first bunch I took it to.

HI it looks like he has done a nice job of the tank if its rubbed down well and use the right primer it will be ok over chrome and it will not flake off and £250 is not dear for a good job like that :!:

Thanks again, I'll have a look at them, certainly seems to be what I'm looking for - will just wait to see how the Consett paintshop performs. All this was caused by the central sump drain plug coming loose, coating the back wheel with oil - just as I negotiated a roundabout - ended up in A&E......
