Leader front brake cable

Post by petewatts »

I,am so sorry to bring this up again, but can anybody tell me the length (both inner and outer ) from tip to tip of 1965 leader front brake cable .Have looked on Yahoo site _Face book site and on here and had at least three different lengths ,I am trying to minimise cable snagging and maximise Brake efficiency Thank you :D Pete

Hi Pete,Yes its a mine field, there were four different lengths for the Leaders and Arrows,Early type pre A frame 3t 6inch Leader and 3ft 9inch Arrow, 1959 to 1960.Then A frame type 3ft 8 inch Leader 4ft Arrow 1961 to 1965.So yours will be a T1164 romac no TS 799 .I make mine 3ft 8 1/2 inchs just to be different.I will try and attach a crude drawing (well try but usually fail).Flatland Roger

Thank you very much Rodger,I,am using a Venhills lined cable and the original nipples to make up my own cable. I,am trying to put the inline cable adjusters at the h/bar end and some sort of clip off the top of the ,A ,plate. Being somewhat of a Luddite I like the old club Forums , I am a also a Royal Enfield Club member and vjmc member .They are all going the same way. For me too intrusive and not easy to use .Thank you again, Pete . P.S Had the Engine running Two weeks ago after exchange Dragonfly cranks and (local re-bore) with Suzuki pistons. Bought from Dealer as non runner so do,not Know how long ago it last run :D
