Can someone tell me the correct spanner size for the nearside flywheel bolt, leader? It measures 1 3\8" across the flats. My spanners finish at 1 1\4" so I need to source one to fit. Any tricks to hold the flywheel would be appreciated. At present I am trying to make a strap spanner.

Re: Flywheel bolt
you can get a socket or spanner on E BAY if you need a deep socket and cannot get one get a 3/4 drive 1/3/8 socket and 1/2" drive socket and weld it to top of the 1/3/8" socket like i did to do my rear gearbox sprocket nut to go over the output shaft

Thanks for your message Johnny. Would that be an AF spanner or perhaps a UNF? I don't want to get the wrong one.

Re: Flywheel bolt
if the nut is 1/3/8" across IT will be 1/3/8" AF AF or UNF is the pitch of the thread or Teeth of the thread per inch and not the size of the nut or bolt head

Re: Flywheel bolt
Hello,
I find a car oil filter remover ( nylon strap type) will just go over the flywheel and hold it enough to free the centre nut.

Hi,
I did the same thing with the oil filter strap wrench to shift it. Just a point, AF means Across Flats, AC is Across Corners on spanners. Watch the sprocket nut when you get there. The chain tool in the manual might be the cause of all the holes in crankcases...
Cheers Colin

Re: Flywheel bolt
AF IS SIZE of the spanner and ac is not across the corners you measure the nut across the flats you have AF and B S W and M M SIZES of nuts and Bolts but your spanner or socket size is AF if your bike was a lot older it would be B S W Sizes or if it was a lot newer or japanese or europe it will be M M -Metric
