Again.... Jaap Fijma and Piet van Oosten
All this digging for information on six days machines produces pictures that I have not seen before.
Now I've been sent a series of pre and post war pictures (scans) of Ariels used by Jaap Fijma and his friend Piet van Oosten and his wife Riek.
I thought it's nice to share them with you all.
Jaap was a prewar TT and Six days rider and (as far as I know) Piet was a Trails competitor.
They teamed up and had a Motorcycle bussines in Amsterdam.
They gradually moved from site to site until they had a very prestigious shop on one of the main routes in Amsterdam.
Actually most of the houses are still there, maybe i should go and ask if I can have a look in the cellars..
Have a look and enjoy ! (the sidecar is a Bernardet , French make)
Behind the Ariel stands a Eijsink, at the back a Triumph twin is just visible, postwar ?Headlamp has a sort of black out disc in it, with text: …… TT 4 juli, during the war there where no TT's , so what year ? Pictures of their shops through Amsterdam.
For those who like to see how those buildings look now:
Roelof Hartstraat 26

Great pictures. The headlamp mask is interesting - I've seen the specifications mentioned in wartime magazines before so it would be easy to make your own but I've never seen a custom one before.
Also, nice to see the Austin Light Utility - I'd love to find one at an affordable price to go with the WNG.

Interesting to see the variations in spelling of the surname 'Fijma' on the shopfronts.
Re: Again.... Jaap Fijma and Piet van Oosten
The Ariel with sidecar is a 1930 model G. You can just make out 'special ' on the timing cover so the TT in the headlamp will be pre 2nd WW.

Also the 3 riders are all on 1929 250s. The upright gear change, 5 1/2" front brake, and timing side cover visible on the right hand bike all point to 29. Great photos, thank you for sharing them.
