Engine Breathing Singles - return to oil tank
Hi,
I fitted a Yamaha reed valve to my VH (crank case breather) and it has been quite successful in as much the engine is now pretty oil tight. It does however eject some oil from here all the same and I was wondering if anyone had experimented with returning the crank case breather back to the oil tank?
Has anyone tried this and what has been their experience?
Keith

Hello Keith
I capped off the oil supply tank outlet to the FERC on my VH and ran the breather hose from the Reed valve to the FERC connection to oil the chain worked fine, thought I might try connecting the outlet to the oil tank via this connection next time to see if it had enough force behind it to push the oil back to the tank.

There's stuff coming out of the breather I wouldn't want in an oil tank. Nev

Here is a slo mo vid of the Exhausting Reed valve from the rocker box experiment I did, this is after a 10 mile run there is a foul smelling clag a small amount of oil, no moisture in the bottle but thats probably evaporating with the heat you can see exiting the bottle, I have just got the rebore and repaired head back after months of waiting so will try agin when I get it back together.
Regards Steve.

I think for a video to play direct on forum yo need to post it to YouTube and then put the YouTube link in the post.
However, if members left click on the IMG_2460.m4v file name in Steve's post it should download the video to their computer and they can left cliick on the downloaded file and play it from there.
Cheers
