600f OHV Cam Followers
Hi all,
Can anyone tell me where the c shaped circlips locate when installing a set of cam followers to a 600f OHV engine!
Do they fit over the followers near the top of the shaft just to prevent them from falling out during installation as there are no circlip grooves?
These are not the original followers but a set of later type MK1's with modified pushrods to suit the 600!
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Phil.

I believe the AOMCC used to have a "technical Officer" in the old days .... I don't know why we don't have one now (probably because it's a thankless task and as busy as our spares people) but the forum is an attempt to cover that, to some extent. Problem is that the people here don't always know the answer and don't, in all honesty, have to go out and dismantle a bike to find out.
Owning the webmaster email address, I do see a few requests for technical assistance.
If I can answer then great; l if I cannot then tough. The tiny handful of interesting ones go across to John Mitchell for the magazine.
Occasionally, I get a response asking me to forward the question to our technical officer and have them sort it out.
It has crossed my mind that the club ought to fund the writing of a proper workshop manuals for the various ariels, before a lot of the knowledge is lost.
Kinda like take the Waller guide to the next level ....

Yes John, that's a great idea.
If that can't be done, then maybe someone (not you!) could be paid to grab the photojournals of rebuilds and repairs that we do have here and put them into some kind of order.
Creating these would only really involve a job to do and a digital camera. Any one of us could do this.
I know I thought afterward that I could have taken a camera out when putting the VH motor together.
Simple stuff, change a tyre, set points, tappets, clutch repairs etc. It doesn't need to be major engine work.

I've done these thing before on other bikes.
We could slowly create a set of "how to" guides ?
I have an AOMCC committee meeting Saturday - I'll table the possibility of the creation of a workshop manual.
We'll have to PAY someone to do it and then fund publishing - but we publish all the time and I suspect the demand would be fairly high (by high I mean we might a sell a thousand or so of the a manual on later singles, i.e. 37 onwards) by our standards
