OK electrics sorted thanks for info,all I need now is pair knee rubbers (can't afford drags prices) and a pair of pillion foot rests if anybody has any going spare pm me with price please ,cheers Pete

Since several people have told me that he has 4, but mine only 3.

From early thirties they were 4 speeds Nico. There would be something not right with yours in the selectors probably. There's practically no other gearbox would fit so if it's a CP there's plenty around but you are right on the change to GB so they are a bit harder to get some parts for. Nev

Your bike has a 4-speed CP gearbox, which is very very similar to the BA gearboxes fitted to many other older Ariels.
I expect the gear selector has not been 'timed' correctly. It's quite easy to get at - just take the outer cover off - but setting the correct 'timing' can be a bit confusing.
There is a quadrant on the pedal selector that engages with a gear on the end of the internal selector cam spindle. There are two marks (on the quadrant and the gear) that need to be lined up, but I'm not sure what you get when they are lined up - it might be the 'false' neutral between 2nd and 3rd, but I might not be right about that (I haven't worked with one of those gearboxes for many years).

Well first long ride on the nh today done 85miles with very little trouble only it stopped charging I suspect the regulator is us ,it starts very well hot or cold just got to get used to the brakes need to think ahead a bit more I think..
