Huntmaster air filter box

Post by torbjorn.vik »

I am trying to find an air filter box or a replica for my 1957 Huntmaster. Does anyone know if these are available somewhere or whether someone may be able to make one? I have one that may be used as a template if necessary.

I have one, but its not spare - do you know what machine your airbox is from? it may just be a matter of filling & recutting the aperture for the hose.
cheers

The one I have is on loan from another bike, so not available to use unfortunately. A friend with an Ariel tells me there used to be a member of the aomcc who made replicas of these, but cannot remember the name?

I'm not sure, sorry. I got one from eBay, they come up every so often - i'd set up a search and let eBay find one for you.

There isn't one on there at the moment.
cheers

There used to be someone in the club (Keith?), possibly in the Kent area, that made fibreglass air filter boxes, I fitted one to my Huntmaster, but that was a long time ago. I believe he stopped making them and sold the moulds used, but I don't know who brought them, or if they recommenced manufacture.

As Simon says, it is possible to modify the filter rubber hole in the top section, so a filter box from another model could be used. However, they are not that easy to find.

Hi Torbjorn,
Have you tried John Budgen yet ? He does list swing arm air boxes which it seems can be modified to suit the Huntmaster :-

Followed the link to John Bugden and sent an email ordering the parts listed. Hope they are still available. Thanks for the tip!

Are the air box filters made solid gold or solid silver?

Malcom Styles has made a few generic ones. The top section is solid, allowing you to cut out the relevant section to match your model. I don’t want to post his personal details on here but if you email me (st1050@hotmail.co.uk) I can see if he has any available and pass on his info.
