Arrow Tin Repairs
Can anyone advise what is the best way to repair tears in the Tin Work. One photo shows the chassis at the battery compartment and the other the Rear Mudguard. I still have to rub all the metalwork down for painting. Can these be brazed or welded?

Hello,
The parts shown look quite damaged but can be repaired -- I'll let Roger reply in detail because he is working on a rear section for an Arrow at the moment.

Re: Arrow Tin Repairs
Its very common to find splits like that in the tail section and corners of the battery carrier cutaway in the frame, I get a them welded up, the weld can be ground back flush on the outside, to stop the splits re occurring in the tail section on the advice of the welder I use he also adds a strip of metal on the underside to reinforce the area, its not original but it strengthens the area and is out of sight.
The splits seen in the picture of the area around the battery carrier cutaway on your frame look quite bad and if rusty is going to be difficult if not impossible to weld, you will have to seek the advice of a welder, I'm not sure of when you should or should not braze, that said I'm working on a Arrow tail section myself at the moment that has the usual splits on either side requiring attention and also where it is double skinned in the middle that shows signs of having been brazed by someone in the past, but now that I've removed the paint and filler down to bare metal they left some small holes so will see if those can be brazed or welded, it will be down to the welder I use and I think it will be the same for you and your panels once they have had a chance to inspect the metal in the surrounding area, if its too bad then it will have to be cut out to sound metal and new metal sections welded in. Hope this helps. Roger

Re: Arrow Tin Repairs
Thanks very helpful Rodger, apart from the Battery area on the main chassis and the split on the rear section the rest does not look too bad. But when I rub it down I will find if there is anything else.

Hi ,
Looks like a phone call to the two stroke spares will be the quickest answer .If time is important this will save a lot of stress/blood and fingernails.
