Michael,
There have been a number of threads concerning Indian petrol tanks. They seem to range from quite good to useless. I get the impression that with the 'good one's shape wise they are not too far off but there can be problems with the fixing not being quite in the right place and other niggling things. The bad ones leak.
The trouble is you can't send them back!
Keith

Re: Restored Petrol Tank
why not go for tank supplied by Draganfly or John Budgen.
If something is wrong you at least can go to them instead of having to send it back (or not) to India
If you buy from India , by a not chromed tank, that way you can re-weld brackets without doing much harm.
I did buy one tank (somewhere in a earlier thread...) but it turned out to look like a 500cc '51 tank but it had sides a flat as a W/NG tank.

Re: Restored Petrol Tank
I got an Indian made tank as good original ones are no where to be found. The tanks from dragonfly are also made in India. But are twice the price. My tank is pretty good to be honest. Not perfect! It does sit s little further back than I would like but I can live with that in the fact I have a tank that is usable. Not much is made in England anymore and you will find just about all your spares are made in some far off land.

Re: Restored Petrol Tank
If it's any help, there is an article in the August issue of "Real Classic" magazine, by a chap who had a big problem with the tank on his AJS. He took it to MTS Classics near Milton Keynes , who did him an excellent job. It reads as if they could handle a problem like Keith has.

Re: Restored Petrol Tank
Robin,
I'm going to give them a call and see about getting it done late autumn.
I need to be able to ride my bike now, even if I'm limited in how far I can go!!
Thanks,
keith
