1950 SQ4 head rebuild suggestions?

Post by paul.ptak »

Before asking questions on what can be prescribed for rebuilding an alloy SQ4 head, can anyone suggest some good reading on the topic?

I just finished stripping my head down and have decided to do a complete rebuild and am looking for any suggestions or recommendation of a shop that can take this work on for me. I have good resources to do this work if I can get the right parts. By a complete rebuild, I am suggesting to upgrade guides, valves, and springs to materials that are better than original.

The goal is build the best head possible without making major modifications to the head.

Thanks.

SRM Engineering are pretty good with valves and guides, especially with all the high tech tooling they have there

There are some notes that (i think) Bruce Longman wrote. Have a look on the Drags website - I have a paper copy I can scan for you if you can't find it.
cheers
