Engine sprocket - how many teeth?

What's a good-size engine sprocket for a VH?

Mine's got a 23T on it now, which is at the end of original range listed in the parts book (17-23T).

Would I be better off with something more towards the middle of the range, like 20T?

The club does do a 24T.

I have a 23T on my solo and on my sidecar.
Third gear is just about right for our speed-limited roads (30/40mph) and fourth goes in around 45/50mph (but will easily pull lower).

I run 23T on my '52.never had a problem.onlt drop the number if you are running a sidecar or live in a very hilly area.
