For Aussie members - I was chatting to my local exhaust man and apparently there is someone in Alice springs who was (is?) making half pressings for fishtail mufflers.
He said that they were good quality. Anyone know who this is and or have some contact info?

Re: Fishtail Muffler pressings
1 have had 5 complete exhaust systems made by overlander for various bikes. the stainless exhaust systems are flash chromed so as to blue rather than yellow. well that is what is supposed to happen and used to happen. The last 2 systems I had made yellowed within 2 minutes of running and went blotchy to. They look horrible and the fitting is not as good as the first 3 systems. The VH muffler was the quietest Ariel muffler I have heard. problem is the bike overheated and performed more like a 250. I had to knock a couple of holes in the baffle.
I had my last system made by Reband from Victor Harbour SA. Pipe is good but the VH muffler is not 100% original (barrel 3" and tailpipe 1 3/4") but quality ok. I believe he also makes fishtail mufflers.

Hi David, Thanks for the info.
I live in South Aus and spoke to Reband. The bloke I talked to there suggested the fishtail pressings from Alice springs. I will visit his shop and have a look.
Do the stainless mufflers yellow as well as the header?

the first 3 systems he did for me are still perfect, no yellowing. Both the exhaust pipe and muffler he did for my NH were flash chromed and both yellowed in a blotchy fashion. I have seen other mufflers that he has done where the stainless is not flash chromed and the muffler went slightly yellow all over but was acceptable. I would rather have a slightly yellow stainless muffler than a poorly done flash chrome stainless one that has gone blotchy.
