Except in a few rare instanced when they don't, see HT output gears!

When that occurs, that Particular set of gears will not Mesh with the others. Some earlier Burmans were like that with the small gear on the cluster having much closer gear teeth than the Others. The ratio chosen had the cluster gear rotating much faster related to the road speed than is normal making gear shifting (by hand) when moving much harder to do without double declutching. (Like an old truck). I realise I am digressing from discussion of the CP box , so apologies if not relevant. Nev
