Morgo Oil pump for a duplex drive Square Four

Post by MarkR »

Advice please!!
I recently purchased a Morgo oil pump for my SQ4 and have come up with a problem... well 2 actually. I am unable to obtain the correct gap between the new cam nut and the Morgo pump drive even when adding all the supplied shims I have a gap over 35 thou. The documentation from Morgo indicated that the correct nut for a duplex drive was 12mm thick, the nut supplied and stamped with a 'D' is only 11mm.
I have attempted to get advice from Morgo/ Auto Values on what I should do to achieve the correct tolerance but to no avail... They have not replied to my 5-6 emails and have not answered the 2 phone calls I have attempted. Being from New Zealand I cant go around and knock on the door so I am turning to the learned collective on this forum for advice.
I could make up more shims and place these behind the cam nut to achieve the correct gap BUT I am concerned that in doing this I am reducing the number of threads of engagement for the cam nut. The other option is to get another cam nut made up in NZ with the correct 12mm thickness.
I appreciate any insight/ suggestions.
Is Morgo still trading??? my past experiences with them have been fine but this time has been a shocker.

Better to avoid THIN shims in a place like that if you can. Nev

Thanks for the advice gents, I've had no luck contacting Morgo so I guess I will machine up thicker shims to achieve the correct gap between the cam nut and pump drive. Making a thicker cam nut was my preferred option but finding a machine shop locally that has the gear to do it is a problem.
