Another Arrow hub colour question

Post by TonyBaxter »

I say another, as in searching for my answer I found another thread, but with no answers. My question is simple, 1963 Arrow, originally came from the factory in Black and white. It has the later ribbed steel hubs, and I am sure they should be black, but, gloss, semi-gloss or matt?
Thanks in advance.

Yes black and almost certainly gloss, although all the ones in original finish that I have seen have been rather dull, no doubt due to age

Hi Roger, thanks for the reply. Interesting, I certainly have got some old ones in a dull black, wasn't sure what was the case. I'll post some pictures once they are in paint and laced up. Cheers.

I've got a 'new old stock' cast-iron rear hub and that's very dull black too, but as Roger says these have been sitting around for over 50 years now so it's difficult to know how much the finish has deteriorated.

Thanks for that. I have got some 2k aerosol satin black, I might use that instead of gloss, keep it slightly understated.
