Private message stuck in the Outbox

I have a private message stuck in the Outbox. This is my second attempt after deleting the first message that also got stuck in the Outbox.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
I have sent a few messages before.

Doesn't it mean that the recieving party hasn't read the message?

Possibly, but they usually appear in the 'Sent' box at some point.
I'll contact the recipient and ask them to read their messages and see what happens in the Outbox.

PMs don't get stuck, but they do stay in 'outbox' until they get read by the recipient. (So you know if they have actually been looked at.)
They then move into 'sent'.
