W/NG brake shoes
I’ve got a W/NG front wheel. Who knows when The Works changed from alluminium to steel brake shoes for the W/NG?
Was it at the same time they changed the primairy cases and the timing cover?

I think this is going to be pretty much W/NG specific - moved into W/NG section!

I guess the spare Parts book is the definitive answer. What other Ariel had the speedo drive in the front wheel? That's a Trials bike arrangement Like the gearbox ratios. 123jump4.

As far as I can see the W/NG part book from november 1942, is the first book which mentions rivets for steel shoes…

They changed from 4100-32 to 4100-42 during contract C 11,103. The despatch dates are between February and August 1942. It would have been to save aluminium. The use of steel outer cases was much later and only applied to a few contracts, later ones reverted to alloy and some only had one of the cases. I don't have parts books for all contracts so some may have used steel shoes earlier or alloy ones later however as they changed during this contract that is unlikely.
