Hi I have 1954 mk2 sq 4. The rear wheel spindle has an assortment of washers. I know ther are some wrong ones ther because some one used a large nut as a washer. what I would like to know is what should be there. On the right side there is a thin washer, a thick washer, a washer/ spacer that is a strange shape, a large spacer that fits in the wheel. On the brake side there is this nut, then a thin washer and the wheel nut. I hope this makes sense and would appreciate any advice.

On the brake side, the sequence is wheel nut, thick washer, suspension fork (Ariel call this the stirrup), short spacer (3/8“) then the brake plate. There's nothing between the sliding fork end and the brake plate - or shouldn't be.

On the timing side, start with the wheel, then a spacer which is thinner at the wheel end and thicker at the suspension end, then the suspension fork, a thick washer and then the wheel nut.

Interesting - my SQ4 8" QD wheel has a spacer between the brake plate and the stirrup. The parts book lists two different spacers, one for the Anstey (4478-51) and the other for a rigid frame (4482-50).

I'm not saying my wheel is correct but, if this spacer doesn't go here, then where should it go? Polite answers only please.
