My TT Deathtrap
I woke this one from its slumber today - it actually started quite easily this year, unlike previous years. No smoke screen either, which is nice.

Re: My TT Deathtrap
Took my old Ariel out to do the West Wilts VMCC White Horse Scatter event last weekend. It performed really well despite the boiling weather.

In a Past life I frequently rode a 1912 Triumph. No clutch. Use the valve lifter a lot. When it rains Belt slip and brakes er ,what brakes? Nev

Re: My TT Deathtrap
Yes. Definitely more challenging than a more modern bike, but very rewarding once you get the hang of it. The lack of clutch isn't really a problem.nevhunter wrote: Sat Jul 19, 2025 12:27 am In a Past life I frequently rode a 1912 Triumph. No clutch. Use the valve lifter a lot. In Traffic.? Uphill starts? When My wife and I organised rallies we arranged for all stops to be with a downhill start if we could, but traffic lights are something else.Nev

Re: My TT Deathtrap
Traffic lights can often be easily negotiated, even when on red. Sometimes I stop, but generally not. Same for roundabouts.
If you are doing an uphill start you are doing it wrong. You soon realise that uphill starts are not great (although I have managed them on occasion - two pints of Guinness helps). Far better to go back and find a suitable place to restart and have a run at it. There is a lot of technique required to ride a clutchless veteran - something a normal rider would not really understand until he has ridden one.
