Chrome flutes

Post by joolsswain »

Hi, I have a 56 tank with removable chrome flutes. Unfortunately the left hand flute has gone awry! Does anyone have 1 for sale or know of anyone who makes them or any suggestions at all please!!!! Very grateful for your thoughts.

Not generally available and very difficult to make. Apologies for the bad news.

Depending on your requirement for originalty, I have seen flutes cut to shape from thin stainless sheet, and held in place by silicon sealant to cover the mounting clips on the tank. Otherwise, I would agree with Roger about original parts,

Bantam John, who was also known as Sheffield classic motorcycles or similar, had some stainless flat blanks some years ago. I bought a pair from him in about 2013, even then he was reluctant to profile them, and he charged me a fortune!

I’m not sure if he’s still going, but it might be a lead for you.

I recently spoke to Andy who is running Bantam John's business. He is the complete opposite of BJ in that he is friendly and helpful. I know BJ was ill but I have not heard of him leaving his mortal coil.
