Oil leak - congratulations on getting it started. I have just got a 1939 square four - kicks up second kick but same leak from soldered joint. Was tempted to fix it and have a ride but the apocryphal stories of bikes left standing exploding when run have put paid to that idea.

Hi All and thanks for the reply. Pete great pictures and diagram - there is no lead on cap over points. I think previous owner had electronic ignition at one point. Now back to mag but obviously didn’t fit the lead back to the cap.

I’ve got the switch on the panel with the flats but turning it doesn’t do anything
I suspect that it’s not connected or something was changed if the tried electronic ignition.
I can remove the panel to look at wiring but don’t know which where any wires go to.

It’s positive earth I think so what does that mean?
What colour is the lead and where is it? Do I do it near the battery or is there a lower current lead ?
